My 1st 24 hours in Leopard

As of posting time, I have installed Leopard OS X beta for nearly 24 hours.
After a few updates (including one that is 505MB in size), the system is still pretty much stable by now. I have also found a suitable replacement for the PHP package for Mac, something called MAMP. It turns out that XAMPP does not really work very well. MAMP has been great for me, not much problems. Check out their site: here. By the way, Time Machine just crashed on me. But never mind.
However, there are a few key applications that I have yet to install, so give me a few more days to complete the migration to Leopard OS X Beta.Oh by the way, Adium X is really a great replacement for MSN messenger, even though I wasn’t really used to it at first. But now that I got the hang of it, I am pretty much comfortable with it. Just a little irritated by the fact that it does not support personal messages.
Another cool thing about Leopard (actually it is just a Safari 3 feature) is that it has this great built in spell checker for forms. So right now, even as I am typing my post online in the Wordpress Dashboard, Leopard is still helping me check that my spelling is flawless.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. There is an Apple Special Event later in a few hours. I am really looking forward to it. There has been rumors that Apple will announce a new line of iPods, making my iPod “outdated”. Oh well. Never mind. After all, one can’t always expect to stay at top all the time when technology is developing at such a fast pace. But if my budget allows for it, I may, I repeat, I may just get one. Then again, I really doubt my budget will allow for it. A little review of my To-buy list:
External Hard DriveThumbdrive- The new iPod (S$450)
- Camera (about S$300)
- Road Bike + Other Biking stuff (about S$500)
- Leopard OS X (about S$200) - Yep, I am going to buy it
- Laptop Stand(You know, iLevel) + Apple keyboard (another S$200)
- Extra Battery for my MacBook Pro (about S$220)
- A PSP (S$300)
- And of course, an iPhone (S$1000?)
So it seems my budget is really a bit tight this year. (Ok, maybe remove the iPhone, since it is only going to come out next year.)
This post should really be renamed to “A collection of Random Thoughts”
Till next time,
cheers
