Finally!
After nearly half a year of devoted hard work put in solely by me, my Project Work team mate and I finally reaped our rewards.
Even though we got kicked out of the Grand Finals (which is actually what I wanted, in case you don’t know), we managed to achieve the High Distinction grade.
Maybe you would think my comment about not wanting to go Grand Finals is a case of sour grapes, but let me explain to you my reasoning. Actually, the thing is, UG Portal is very incomplete and completely off the beautiful schedule I drew for it. Why is that so? Because I spent too much time hanging out with friends (something I somewhat regret right now), especially during the June Holidays and other reasons on which I shall not divulge (it concerns my team mate). Anyway, just know that it is actually very incomplete at this stage, and I have no hope of completing it on time.
Give me maybe another month of school holidays and the ability to really focus on the task at hand, and maybe I would be able to complete it. But as it happened, I am not blessed with such a miracle. So, again, let me repeat this point, UG Portal stands without hope of being completed before the Grand Finals.
Naturally, it is better to present an incomplete product at the finals than at the Grand Finals. In the Finals, this incomplete combination of lines of lines of hand written code stand much more chance to score the High Distinction Grade than at the Grand Finals. And going on to the grand finals would mean me putting in more effort in something that I know is hopeless. And it may even result in only an A grade at the very end. So naturally, I wanted to end it at the Finals, hopefully with a nice grade.
Haha, I got what I wanted. And I truly think that I deserved it. Although the process was rather stressful at times, it was actually quite fun. I am almost (notice the “ALMOST”?) sorry that I got kicked out. Yes, it will mean missing out on the prestige, but not many students got High Distinction as well. Moreover, we are still invited to the Grand Finals to recieve our High Distinction medals, so I probably won’t be missing out a lot of fun. Look out for me with my MacBook Pro!
Indeed, the ticket out, with grace.
Till next time,
cheers
