Overcommitted?

Darn, I think I am kinda overcommitted this year. Firstly, this is the first year in junior college, and I must say the difficulty in subject content is really a huge increase from that in secondary school. Even now, I am struggling to cope with my studies.

Then I joined the school Cross Country Team, in a bid to better my running time for any duathlon races that I may be taking part. (I am getting my friend to teach me to swim, so one day I may just go try triathlon). Even though I only go for 3 out of the 6 trainings every week, it is still physically tiring, especially after a long day in school.

Then, there is my cycling training. Even though I have got no coach, I am trying to go for regular cycling sessions. This is because I realise that I can probably gain the most advantage in the cycling leg of a duathlon race. So that means another 3 sessions - 1 40KM session, 1 20KM session and 1 90KM session every week.

Following that, I am trying to get into the faculty committee for Athena. Now this is quite important to me, since it will affect my portfolio. I do not expect to make it to my school’s X-Country Nationals Team this year (next year maybe), so this means that for my CCA portfolio, I will have nothing to show. So, I want to get into the faculty committee in order to have something for my portfolio. (but also largely because it should be a fun journey to be in faculty committee)

Then in order to be in the faculty committee, I first have to be chosen to be the CT Representative (something like the chairman of the class). This means extra admin work from my Civics tutor (or form teacher) and Faculty Education Consultants (E/Cs) for me to do.

But it doesn’t stop there. There is still the Greenwave competition, in which I am taking part in. Again, it is quite a rush, as the judging is in July, we got about 3 months to finish the entire thing. But the cash reward is rather attractive.

Moreover, I agreed to join INSPIRE, which is organising a large scale mass charity run this year. Again, this promises a good portfolio, but it is going to take lots of time and effort. (especially given our tight budget) After all, the target number of participants is actually 10000 people.

Then last but not least, there are the numerous races and events that I am going to take part in. For example, I am leaving for Kuala Lumpur this friday, to take part in a 7KM run, and I am only coming back this Sunday (and I have got a economics test on next Monday). Then, the next upcoming event is the Team Time Trial (TTT) on the 13th April. Following that is the National Runaway Cycling and Skating (which I am taking as a 45KM time trial). Then of course, my much awaited City Duathlon is on 8th June. Lucky my race season pretty much ends there, though I am considering taking part in the OSIM triathlon relay (which is in July)

So, you can see that I am going to have a rather busy year ahead. Wish me luck.

Till next time,
cheers
