Duathlon Time Trial
Yay, today, I must say I successfully (to a large extent) completed my own Half Duathlon Time Trial. Even though I cannot be 100% accurate about my own standard due to traffic lights and other factors such as weather conditions, which were surprising good, I roughly know where I stand. Anyway, a break down of my timings:
First Run Leg: 4.6KM - 21:32 (-2.00 for waiting at traffic lights)
Bike Leg + Transition 1 Time: 20.93KM - 47:42 (-11:00 minutes for waiting at traffic lights + extra effort needed to reaccelerate after traffic lights)
Second Bike Leg + Transition 2 Time: 2.5KM - 14M15S (Done on Track)
Deduct another minute for time wasted when I had to unlock my bike before T1 and lock my bike after T2
So, total time comes to about 1 Hour 9 Minutes and 29 Seconds (after accounting for time wasted at traffic lights). Which I suppose is not bad, but I think I still need to improve my running timing.
Other things to take note is not to over-hydrate during the biking leg. I almost finished one and a half 650ML bottle of H2O (Not water, but the isotonic drink) during the biking leg itself (even now, as I posting this, nearly 2 hours after the thing ended, I am still feeling dehydrated). However, I did not take any water during both my running legs. So perhaps it might be better to slightly hydrate myself during the first run leg and not over hydrate during the biking leg. Another thing is that I need to do more brick training. I am still not used to running after biking. Third thing is that I might need to take powergel after 1/2 of the biking leg. I feel very burnt out during the second running leg. Yup. Otherwise I am quite pleased with my performance today.
I am trying to squeeze another time trial this saturday. In fact, I think I will mostly be doing such time trials till up to the actual City Duathlon on 8th June. Unless it proves to not improve my timing, then I will change to doing separate components again.

Sidenote: Panic At The Disco’s new album, “Pretty. Odd.” (OK, maybe not that new, but I always lag behind in album releases) is quite nice.
Till next time,
cheers
